Maritime Food Sovereignty
By using data of Nusantara's maritime glory history, marine potentials and conditions, and supported by available literature studies, the writer explains the foundation of his idea of making the sea as n important instrument to realize Indonesia's food severeignty. The motto Jalesveva Jayamahe, which means "It is at Sea we are Glorious", resounds continuously to remind the people of how the sea could become a source of welfare. There needs to be a change of how societies view marine resource management, especially the fishing sector, which goes beyond traditional fishing and as a sources of protein; but also asa the main pillar of Indonesia's economic strength. A shift in the people's consumption culture should also occur, from relying heavily on land-based food resources to looking at the sea as a source of food supply. These changes are also driven by land scarcity due to population growth.
