Solving Problems in Fluid Dynamics
This volume contains material associated with BSc courses in engineering in which a knowledge of fluid dynamics is required. The emphasis is placed on advanced aspects of the subject and knowledge of the basic principles is assumed. The volume should therefore be appropriate to the final year of study, and some postgraduate areas. Chapters 1-6 cover the theoretical aspects and chapter 7-11 applications thereof. The treatment adopted is the same as that used in the Solving Problems series. Each chapter comprises a summary of the basic theory or petinent material, a selection of worked examples, and several examples (with answers) for the reader to attempt. The volume is therefore intended to complement a text book. The majority of the problems have been devised by the author for use in examinations and tutorial work. Some have been taken from examination papers set by Newcastle-upon-Tyne Polytechnic (now The Universituy of Northumbria in Newcastle), and I am indebted to the University for permission to use them. Inevitably a few errors may have escaped the scrutiny of the author, publisher and printer. I should be pleased to receive any corrections or constructive criticism.
