VIDEO AND DIGITAL ELECTRONIC DISPLAYS: A USER'S GUIDE
The book has two major sections. The first (Chapters 1-6) deals with technology and eguipment. Here, the various types of electronic display systems and devices are described in detail, and the impact of the human visual system on display-system performance reguirements is analyzed. Both systems using the various types of cathode ray tubes and those that use flat panel technologies are covered. The characteristics of cathode ray tubes, light emitting diodes, liguid crystal displays,
.plasma panels, thin-film electroluminescence, and vacuum fluorescence are evaluated, as are input and output devices.
The second section of the book offers practical guidance for using these display systems in a variety of applications. It describes uses ranging from computer graphics, business graphics, word processing, and computer-aided design and manufacturing, to architecture, animation, advertising, video games, reservations, and airline information systems. Extensive tables help you evaluate the performance of a specific system in meeting the needs of a given application. The final chapter deals with methods of measurement for determining expected system performance.
