PERSPECTIVES ON PERSONNEL/HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
The response to these two features was very favorable, and we retained them in the revised edition and in this edition. There are 41 readings in the current edition, 25 of them new selections for this edition, and 33 of the readings in the current edition were published in the 1980s, reflecting the dynamic nature of the field. All 13 chapters have at least one new reading, and two chapters have all new selections.
This edition maintains an emphasis on job analysis in personnel including an Overview article by Ghorpade and Atchison. In addition, several other readings contain illustrations of the applications of job analysis in such areas as performance appraisal, external and internal staffing, and egual employment opportunity. All told, these articles highlight the significance of a familiar personnel technigue that has become increasingly important.
