QUANTITATIVE CONCEPTS FOR MANAGEMENT THIRD EDITION
In 1979 the first edition of Quantitative Concepts for Management first appeared on the bookstore shelves. It took a radically new approach to teaching management science. The text was devoted to the concepts of successful modeling. It was written on the premise that specific algonthms should be treated in later courses for those who are interested in a more :ntimate working relationship with models.
Ten years and thousands of user copies later, we are now presenting a new third edition ‘for vour consideration. This edition remains true to the original premise, an exclusive 2mprasis on concepts. However, in each addition we try to make the book easier for 30th che instructor and the student to use. A number of fearures that we introduced in the second edition have been well received. In particular the feedback on the “Major Concept Quizzes” at the end of each chapter has been extremely favorable. Several users have indicated that these sets of questions have changed their views about the use of multiple choice quesuons. We now recommend them to you with increased confidence. The applied emphasis supported with “Notes on Implementation,” Cases, and “Diagnostic Assignments” is also conunued. These vehicles provide a good opportunity for student discussion. In short, the basic philosophy and the teaching elements represented in the second edition appear in this edinon.
