INTRODUCTORY ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
This text is designed for use in an introductory course in Electrical Engineering. It represents the efforts of the authors to produce a book which has a modern and direct approach to the study of Electrical Engineering and is a complete revision of Corcoran’s Basic [lectrical Engineering. Retaining the best of that book but completely rewritten, this text covers the subject matter in an orderly and systematic manner with a view toward lessening the work of both the instructor and the student. The mathematical level is consistent with concurrent registration in calculus.
The arrangement of chapters provides for courses of two different lengths; a shorter course where only the first five chapters need be covered and a longer one where eight to ten chapters are completed.
Electric field concepts are introduced early in the text but onlv t the extent of providing a reasonable explanation of electric condi - tion. After circuit analysis and magnetic field concepts are con~idere |. the electric field is then treated in somewhat more detail. With tl. arrangement of material, attention can first be directed to cirei analysis and elementary magnetic phenomena, the two principal topi's of a “first course.”
