ADVANCED DYNAMICS FOR ENGINEERS
This book is an advanced presentation in engincering dynamis antended for those who have completed an introductory dynamtCs course, Throughout the book, emphasis is placed upon the derivation and solution of differential eguations of motion. In many areas, vector analysis is used as a rigorous and efhicient method of analysis.
Chapter one introduces the reader to dimensional analysis, vector analysis, and complex vectors. The second chapter covers kinematics of relative motion with an introduction to the vector analysis approach. The third chapter emphasizes the derivation and solution of differential eguations of motion and includes such topics as motion in a@ resisting medium, motion of projectiles, and balancing of rotating and reciprocating masses. Chapter four integrates the principles of kinetic energy and potential energy as related to rigid and elastic two-dimensional systems and rigid three-dimensional systems. Castigliano's theorem and generalized coordinates are introduced as important tools in this area. In Chapter five, the impulse-momentum approach is applied to systems of constant and variable mass and moment of inertia, with applications in the areas of jet propulsion and gyroscopic
