Introduction In Ship Hydromechanics
"This preliminary text book is a first attempt to provide a short introduction in slup y dromechanics for Maritime Engineering students (second year) at the Delft Umversity of Technology Topics have been selected for inclusion based upon their applicability in mod en maritime engineering practice The treatmem of these selected topics includes both The background theory and its applications to realistic problems
The notation wed in this book is kept as standard as possible, but is explained it is introduced in each chapter In some cases the authors have chosen to we notation commonly found in the relevant literature even if it is in conflict with a more universal standard or even with other parts of this text. This is done to prepare students better to read the literature if they wish to purme such maters more deeply In some other cases the more of less standard notation and conventions have been adhered to in spate of more common practice
These lecture notes on an introduction im ship bydromechanics consists of three parte
waves, slupmotions and maneuvering
For both the waves part and the shipmotions port, use has been made of the extermive
new lecture notes on ""Offshore Hydromechanics First Edition, August 2000 by 1.М.J
Journée and WW Mamie, Interfaculty Offshore Technology of the Delft University of
Technology, see Internet http//www.shipmotions.nl For the maneuvering part, use has been made of the ""Principles of Naval Architecture"". 1989, Volume III. Chapter IX on Controllability by CL.
