Dictionary of Astronomy

For over 2.5 years we have been tracking the growth and developments in astronomy in this dictionary. For this new edition, the fifth in the book's life, we have completely reviewed and updated all the existing entries and have added around 200 entries to reflect recent advances in astronomy and related fields. An additional new feature is a listing of a selection of the most useful websites on astronomy, for the intemet provides a very rich resource of information and images. The dictionary now contains over 3,500 entries and also includes an extensive set of appendices providing astronomical data. The book will provide a valuable resource both to those studying astronomy at school or university and to the many enthusiastic amateur astronomers. The editors would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the many people who have been involved in the book. A list of the main contributors is given overleaf.
