Daya Dukung Kelautan dan Perikanan : Selat Sunda-Teluk Tomini-Teluk Saleh-Teluk Ekas
This research was conducted in 2003, aiming to describe the marine carrying capacity in different ecosystems in Indonesia. The main objective of this study was to provide the policy makers at each location the information reguired to support the development of marine and fisheries sectors. To understand the ecosystem condition where fishing and aguaculture activities take place, a specific approach is reguired to describe the ecosystem as a whole. Such approach consist of a series of methodologies that can reflect various aspects of the ecosystem, which include the hydro oceanographic components, transfer of biomass, and the performance analysis of biotic, abiotic and economic components. The corresponding methods that have been used in this study were the Hydrodynamic models, Ecopath, and Rapfish (Rapid Appraisal for Fisheries). This study took place in four locations, the Sunda Strait, Tomini Bay, Saleh Bay, and Ekas Bay. Each of the locations differs in their oceanographic and social-economy characteristics. The results of this study consists of three components, namely the hydro-oceanography aspects at all four locations, transfer of biomass aspects at three locations (Sunda Strart, Saleh Bay, and Ekas Bay), and Rapfish approach as a measure of social-economic performance at two locations, Sunda Strait, and Tomini Bay. In general, by applying all three methods simultaneously the results revealed beneficial outputs for the advancement in marine and fisheries sectors.
